What you see here is a reflection of my heart. The lighting you have experienced from me is the reflection of my thoughts, my ambitions and my desires.
Any stream of light, before it falls on a surface, or focuses on something, travels – at least for microseconds. My passions wandered a lot before it surfaced on lighting. Again it took time to have the realizations – that this is what I am made for.
My Vision and Mission - Cameo Light Academy
Cameo Light Academy is the only institution in India which formally trains the new generation of lighting designers, both technically and aesthetically. My mission is to impart the practical and theoretical knowledge that I have acquired from my experience to the budding and aspirant lighting designers, and I consider this forward step a historic mission.
SREEKANTH – Lighting Designer

Started career as a Theatre actor and performance facilitator, found himself into Theatre lighting design under the guidance of exponent lighting designers like Mr. V. Ramamurthy (India) and Mr. Remy Nicholas (France).

Sreekanth has designed stage lighting for more than 200 productions for renowned artists and groups in India and abroad like Abhinaya Theatre and Research Centre (Kerala), National School of Drama (New Delhi), Sangeet Natak Akademi (New Delhi), Prana Dance Company (France), etc.

Sreekanth has travelled across more than 45 countries as a lighting designer, for performing art and theatre festivals, stage shows, creative dance performances, etc. He was the Technical Director & Coordinator for cultural exchange programs conducted by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Sangeet Natak Akademi.

Sreekanth is the recipient of “Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar” for Lighting Design in 2007 from Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi; “Kalashree Award” 2016, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi; Vayala – Kanal Award for Lighting in 2015.
Sreekanth is presently the Director of Cameo Light Academy wherein he imparts training to budding lighting designers. This is the pioneer and only institution in India dedicated to creative lighting design.
Work process
How I work on Lighting projects
Discussion
Meet the Director/Producer, collect inputs – about show, time, location, genre, etc. and discuss about what visualisation of the content he/she needs on stage.
Planning
Based on the discussion with the Director, how the goals can be achieved through various lighting scapes.
Design
Prepare design based on inputs from the director/producer and after watching the rehearsals, as to how the lights have to be placed so as to achieve the proposed goals
Execution
Performance Day – Make sure that the Cameo team executes what that have been planned and decided earlier so as to achieve the final outcome without losing the essence of the content conceived by the Director.
